Context

The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has granted the Final Operational Clearance (FOC) to the indigenous Netra Airborne Early Warning and Control (AEW&C) system, enabling its full operational deployment by the Indian Air Force (IAF).

What is Netra AEW&C?

Netra is India's first indigenously developed Airborne Early Warning and Control (AEW&C) system. It functions as a flying radar and airborne command centre, capable of detecting, identifying, tracking and coordinating responses against aerial and maritime threats far beyond the reach of ground-based radar systems.

Developed By: Centre for Airborne Systems (CABS), DRDO in collaboration with the Indian Air Force and Indian defence industry partners.
