Context

The Government of India has highlighted the transformational journey of the North-East through the Ashtalakshmi Growth Model, positioning the region as a strategic engine of India's future growth under the vision of Act East Policy and inclusive regional development.

What is the Ashtalakshmi Growth Model?

Inspired by the eight manifestations of Goddess Lakshmi, the model views the eight North-Eastern states as eight pillars of prosperity and development.

States Covered: Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Tripura and Sikkim.
Core Vision: Leveraging the region's strategic location, cultural diversity, biodiversity wealth and border connectivity to transform the North-East into India's gateway to South-East Asia.
